End of Tax Year 2010/11 - Notes for STAFF System users

You should have already received our Year End documents:

• STAFF System March 11 Newsletter
• End of Year 2010/11 Documentation, procedures and changes
• Guideline for on-line filing (note that there are no changes from 2007 so we have not updated this document)

There is an update to the NI Number checker, the new version is in the STAFF system programs updated for year end (see below).

These documents list the various software that you will need. If you have filed on-line previously you will only need:

• STAFF System programs updated for the Year End updated 4/4/11
• The HMR&C Desktop Validation tool, you may need to install the Java Run-time v 1.4.2. See our March Newsletter for details of using this tool
• a tool to ensure you are set for live submission

And if you have not filed on-line then in addition you will need:

• a set of utilities used by the STAFF System, you will need this is you haven't filed on-line before. Install on the computer running the STAFF System
• the Microsoft MSXML3 utility Service Pack 5 (follow the link, go to Downloads page and search for MSXML3 sp5). Install this on the computer running the STAFF System

because setting up the upload can be troublesome our advice for those new to On-line Filing is that rather than trying to actually carry out the upload yourself, you can email the upload file to us and we will send it the the HMR&C.
